In the Old Testament, the people of God were led to tithe to the temple, to keep the temple up, and to support the priests whose sole responsibility was to care for the temple. In the New Testament, our bodies are the temple (1 Corinthians 6:19), and we are priests (1 Peter 2:9). Therefore, the Old Testament tithing system applied to the New Testament definitions of the temple and the priest would lead us to sow into one another.
For responding to the nudge to partner with the Kingdom, through Mission: Identity. In Act 2:44-45, we are shown a Kingdom model where the people of God treat their resources as common, so that the needs of the people of God are met. Some translations even tell us that there was no poverty among the people of God.
The current church culture, and church money system, doesn’t operate in the same way that the Biblical Church did. The heart of the Father is that His Sons and Daughters are cared for by one another. The majority of Kingdom funds currently go to buildings and staffs, which we need for the gathering of the Bride. However, we have enough church buildings in our nation to church the whole world, and we are more spiritually lost than we have ever been as a nation. Maybe it’s time to shift the way we use the Kingdom’s resources.
Ultimately, sowing has to do with obedience. What is God telling us/you to do with the resources He has given us? If He says to sow it into a church community, then do it. If He says to give it to your next-door neighbor, then do it. It's 100% His, so do 100% of what He says with it. Obedience is why we have the system we do. The first 10% is sown into church communities or other Kingdom organizations, depending on what the Lord tells us. The second 10% pays staff. The remaining 80% has a the sole purpose of funding the mission and meeting the needs of Sons and Daughters.
Mission: Identity is a storehouse you can sow into that is instantly made available to the needs of sons and daughters we are connected with. If your heart is to make an impact with your Kingdom resources, and to know exactly how those resources are being used, then put them in the storehouse!
A one time gift is never too small. Your gift of any amount will help fund a daughter or a son in a time of need.
